Realtor.com Lists These California Cities as Some of the 'Hottest Housing Markets' in the US

According to a leading real estate site, some California towns are seeing a rapid pace of supply and rising demand in their housing markets.

In fact, 19 towns in the Golden State were featured on Realtor.com’s list of the "hottest real estate markets" for 2024.

The rankings are derived from "proprietary insights into buyer activity and the most comprehensive data on active inventory," as explained by the site. The analysis evaluates demand and supply dynamics to rank metro areas, counties, and zip codes in comparison to other regions across the country.

To clarify the methodology, Realtor.com assesses listing views by market to gauge demand and median days on the market to measure supply. A total of 300 cities were included in the analysis.

Based on this approach, here is a breakdown of the California cities identified as among the "hottest housing markets" in the country as of March 2024:

— Ranked No. 40: Santa Rosa

— Ranked No. 41: Modesto (tied with Cincinnati, OH)

— Ranked No. 51: Santa Cruz-Watsonville metro

— Ranked No. 53: Oxnard-Thousand Oaks-Ventura metro

— Ranked No. 63: Visalia-Porterville metro

— Ranked No. 64: San Diego-Carlsbad metro

According to Realtor.com's index, the "hottest housing market" in the U.S. is Manchester-Nashua, New Hampshire, followed by Rochester, New York, and Springfield, Massachusetts.
