University of the Pacific earns a spot on Money's 'Best Colleges in America' list

University of the Pacific has earned recognition as one of the top colleges in the country.

In the latest edition of the Best Colleges in America list, Money, the personal finance website, and SoFi, a digital financial service, have highlighted the university's excellence. This annual ranking uses a distinct rating system that evaluates flagship colleges based on three key factors: quality of education, affordability, and student outcomes.

For the 2024-2025 list, Pacific is among the 745 institutions that made the cut and received a commendable 4.5-star rating.

The report notes, "University of the Pacific may resemble a quintessential college campus — the kind Hollywood imagines — with at least 21 films shot there and in Stockton since the 1940s. But beyond its cinematic appeal, the school’s academic credentials are genuinely impressive."

Pacific’s small class sizes — averaging 24 students per class — and a graduation rate of 70% were highlighted in the report. Students generally take 4.4 years to complete their degrees.

The report also mentions that Pacific’s estimated average cost after financial aid is $29,800, with the average expense for low-income students at $18,400. Notably, 98% of students receive need-based grants.

Pacific graduates show strong outcomes, with about 82% earning more than those with only a high school diploma, an unusually high percentage. The median early-career earnings for Pacific graduates average around $80,000.

Pacific President Christopher Callahan commented, “The value of a Pacific education lies in the immersive learning environments and the powerful connections between our talented students and dedicated faculty. Our professors focus on student success, which translates into graduates with deep knowledge, practical experience, and critical thinking skills essential for success in their careers and beyond.”
